DMCA Takedown Policy

Last updated: August 26, 2025

PDFConvert.it respects the intellectual property rights of others and expects users to do the same. This DMCA Policy outlines our procedures for addressing copyright infringement claims and our commitment to compliance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.

Our Copyright Philosophy

PDFConvert.it is designed exclusively for legitimate document conversion purposes - transforming file formats for users' own documents or materials they are legally authorized to process. We explicitly prohibit using our service for copyright infringement, piracy, or unauthorized distribution of protected works.

Users agree in our Terms of Service to only upload files they own or have permission to convert. By uploading content, users warrant they hold appropriate rights or have obtained necessary licenses from copyright holders.

Why DMCA Matters Despite Auto-Deletion

Technical Reality: PDFConvert.it's zero-retention architecture automatically deletes all uploaded files immediately after conversion completion. Files exist in volatile server memory only during the conversion process (typically seconds) and cannot be recovered afterward. We do not store, host, backup, or distribute user content in any form.

Legal Reality: Despite automatic deletion making ongoing infringement impossible, copyright holders may still submit DMCA notices if they believe our service was used to facilitate infringement. We take such notices seriously and investigate all reports to ensure our platform is not being exploited for illegal purposes.

Common scenarios where DMCA notices may be relevant include users converting pirated ebooks, copyrighted articles, proprietary business documents, or other protected materials without authorization. While we cannot prevent initial upload, DMCA notices help us identify patterns of abuse and take appropriate enforcement actions against violating accounts.

Filing a DMCA Takedown Notice

If you are a copyright holder (or authorized agent) who believes your copyrighted material was processed through PDFConvert.it without permission, you may submit a DMCA takedown notice. While we cannot remove files that no longer exist, we will:

  • Investigate the alleged infringement and account activity patterns
  • Take enforcement action against accounts found violating our Terms (warnings, suspension, or termination)
  • Respond to your notice detailing our findings and actions taken
  • Maintain records of repeat infringers for potential account termination

To submit a valid DMCA notice, please provide the following information using the form below:

  • Your name, address, phone number, and email
  • Identification of the material and its location before removal or suspension
  • A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good faith belief that removal occurred due to mistake or misidentification
  • Your consent to jurisdiction of the federal court for the judicial district in which your address is located (or the Northern District of California if outside the United States)
  • A statement that you will accept service of process from the person who filed the original DMCA notice or an agent of that person
  • Your physical or electronic signature

Upon receiving a valid counter-notification, we will forward it to the original complainant. If the complainant does not file a court action within 10-14 business days, we may restore your account or access at our discretion.

Repeat Infringer Policy

PDFConvert.it maintains a policy of terminating accounts of users who are repeat copyright infringers. Accounts receiving multiple validated DMCA notices may be subject to permanent suspension without refund of subscription fees.

False Claims and Legal Liability

Important Warning: Under 17 U.S.C. §512(f), any person who knowingly materially misrepresents that material or activity is infringing, or that material was removed or disabled by mistake or misidentification, may be subject to liability for damages including costs and attorneys' fees. Please ensure your DMCA notice or counter-notification is accurate and made in good faith.
